Virtual Production

What sort of businesses/productions does Supply Drop service? Is Supply Drop right for me?

Supply Drop is one of the film and video industry's most useful services in terms of diversity. — We cater to everyone from small business commercials and web content to executive State of Addresses, school lectures, explanation and product videos, legal deposition, documentary film interviews, and more.

Supply Drop is a new practical, safe, cost-effective solution for high-end, “static” content where a tripod or a small film crew would normally be used. Thanks to high-speed internet, remote recording, and video conference technology, having clients, crew, and talent all in the same room is no longer necessary for beautiful, film-quality results.

How is a “virtual production” conducted?

A virtual production is directed and produced entirely through video conferencing.

When talent arrives on set, they will be greeted by a live video conference where the crew will be ready to film. If an adjustment needs to be made, the director can communicate with talent or a local production assistant, and the equipment will be safely reset.

Once finished, talent walks away, and the equipment is removed.

What do I need to facilitate a virtual production?

DigiPro can bring Supply Drop to any location with high-speed internet, but it is NOT a requirement on your part. DigiPro can bring a high-speed data hotspot to you.

Oh, and we can suggest beautiful locations and local studio space as well. So, really, all you have to provide is a person to film. — Well, actually, we can provide that, too... 🤔

How can I test my wifi speed? What speeds work best?

Using a phone or desktop, browse in your preferred space, Google Search “speed test” for a one-click, Google-provided diagnosis for upload and download speeds. This will also give you a quick breakdown of what content your internet can handle.

Typical high-speed internet download speeds often reach around 80mbps, which is already 40x the required download speed for receiving multiple high-quality video feeds. It’s upload speed that makes the difference. High-quality video usually requires between 2 and 3mbps, which is somewhat rarer but still very common.

Still not good enough? It’s ok. We come with a backup internet hotspot!

Great! How do I get started?

Fill out our simple questionnaire! DigiPro will assess your production needs, confirm your preferred time and date, and follow up with any questions we may have. Please allow a 24-hour time period between submission and response. — We look forward to working with you!

Setup, Etiquette & Teardown

How does Supply Drop arrival and setup work?

The Supply Drop cart is set up by a professional videographer. The camera, video conference laptop, teleprompter, furniture, lighting, and mics are all prepped, staged, and set to record before the talent arrives. Once audio and focus are calibrated and set, filming begins.

How much space is required for a typical Supply Drop setup?

We need less than a small office room or lobby to set up the Supply Drop setup.

Aside from talent, who else will be on site while filming takes place?

Between Supply Drop setup and teardown, DigiPro’s videographer will be on or near the premises standing by and monitoring filming via the Supply Drop video conference in case a set change is needed or a technical issue arises with any of the provided equipment. Otherwise, no other DigiPro representative will need to be on site.

Is there Supply Drop equipment that talent has to prep themselves?

Talent may find a wireless lavallière microphone (prepped and sanitized) for them to place on their person. Optionally, overhead boom mics can be staged as well.

What if there is a technical issue with sound, camera, internet, or lighting?

If a minor adjustment needs to be made, the director will communicate with the talent. If further assistance is needed, the nearby videographer will be notified, and the equipment will be safely reset. Additionally, the talent is free to allow DigiPro’s videographer to assist in the same room as them if they wish comfortable doing so.

How does the “teardown” process work?

Talent removes any wireless audio equipment they may have on them, leaves it on a nearby chair or table, and walks away. DigiPro’s videographer will then break down all equipment, reset the room exactly as it was found, and roll the Supply Drop cart off-site.

We’re like Santa Clause.

Cart Equipment & Techniques

What pre-built equipment does Supply Drop come with?

Our starter package comes with a camera, microphones, a single source light, a laptop, and a teleprompter.

How does a remotely-controlled teleprompter work?

Through a secured connection with the teleprompter via video conferencing, a teleprompter operator can literally be anywhere in the world. The operator will take control of the teleprompter and be able to control, follow along with talent, and make adjustments to the script - all in real time!

How does a “teleprompted interview” work?

We connect the Director, Producer, or Interviewee directly to the teleprompter via a secured video conference allowing talent to see the individual while maintaining eye contact with the camera.

Can talent speak or read past the camera instead of looking directly into the camera?

Yes. The teleprompter can be set up to the side of the camera.

How can Supply Drop film a close-up and a wide shot with just one camera?

Because 4K video is twice the size of high definition, we can digitally “zoom” into the footage without losing image quality - when delivering in HD. This provides seamless transitions and allows multiple takes without having to start over from the beginning.

Recording & Deliverables

How is video captured using Supply Drop? Does it record locally or remotely?

All audio and video are recorded locally to the camera. When the shoot is complete, the DigiPro tech verifies the footage, transfers the media to a hard drive (makes a backup), and overnights the RAW files to DigiPro for post-production.

Is there a limited license attached to Supply Drop videos?

No, you own the footage and hold the license in perpetuity. 🙌
